Andrew Forrest’s Squadron Energy says it will deliver one-third of the renewable energy capacity needed to reach Australia’s 2030 emissions target after inking a $2.75 billion deal to buy wind turbines from GE.

The 14 gigawatts of new renewable power will power the equivalent of six million homes, the company said. The first project to be delivered will be the $1 billion-plus Uungula wind farm near Wellington in central-west NSW, where Dr Forrest made the announcement on Thursday.
