Federal Court orders EDO to release 3200 documents in financier search

The Environmental Defenders Office has been ordered to hand over within days thousands of documents detailing who funded its failed attempt to kill Santos’ $5.8 billion gas project in the Timor Sea.

The Federal Court on Wednesday also said the activist legal firm would probably have to pay most of the oil and gas giant’s costs. Describing the matter as “unique”, Federal Court judge Natalie Charlesworth gave the EDO until late on Friday to provide 3200 documents to Santos.
