Oil explorer FAR Ltd faces a potential dramatic push to spill the board after ignoring the demands of major shareholders to return the proceeds from a drawn-out asset sale and instead pursue more drilling off Africa’s west coast.

The board, led by chairman Nicholas Limb, suffered an overwhelming “first strike” at its annual shareholder meeting on Tuesday, with an emphatic 75.26 per cent of shareholders voting against the remuneration report.
