Exxon puts Bass Strait assets on the block

US major ExxonMobil will seek a buyer for all its Bass Strait oil and gas operations in a move that would trigger a multi-billion-dollar shake-up of the industry on the east coast amid heightened political and regulatory pressure over elevated gas prices.

Exxon said it would "test market interest" for all its operated producing operations in Australia, adding that no potential buyer as been identified.
