ERM Power opens up renewables deals for small customers
Business electricity retailer ERM Power will on Tuesday invite wind and solar farm developers to offer short-term electricity supply from their projects to support its launch of a new product to smaller customers that are seeking to tap into the boom in low-cost, clean renewable energy.
David Guiver, head of wholesale markets at ERM, said the initiative would open up the benefits of renewable power purchase agreements (PPA) to customers unwilling to lock themselves into a 10- or 15-year contract or lacking the internal resources to negotiate their own deal.
