Beach Energy’s new boss Brett Woods intends to diversify the oil and gas producer into gas power generation and storage as part of a far-reaching turnaround strategy designed to leave five years of underperformance behind.

The Adelaide-based producer could develop up to 120 megawatts of gas peaking electricity generation in Victoria and South Australia and would likely link up with a major electricity retailer to manage the electricity trading opportunity associated with that, he said.
