Avian flu is on the march and experts warn gaps in the surveillance of backyard chickens could expose Australia to a major outbreak.
“During the past five years the behaviour of avian influenza globally is like nothing we’ve seen before,” said Michael Ward, the chair of Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety at Sydney University.
