Departing BHP Billiton chief executive Chip Goodyear will walk away from the company with more than $US50 million ($57 million) after taking home $US7.8 million for his services in 2006-07.

Tomorrow will be Mr Goodyear's last day in charge of BHP Billiton, having overseen a more than three-fold increase in the company's share price in Australia during his five-year reign.
