Santos is one of the ASX’s great growth hopes that has never quite lived up to its promise.
Bullish fund managers pinned their careers on it through the 2000s and 2010s, tipping the oil and gas group as Australia’s great bold bet in the pre-WiseTech and Afterpay era, when building businesses and creating shareholder value took years and lots of capital.
