Packer backs Crown board on Blackstone bid

James Packer is backing the commitment he made to the Bergin inquiry to allow the Crown Resorts board of directors to act independently and in the interests of all shareholders.

Crown Resorts controlling shareholder James Packer has decided to back the decisions of the Crown Resorts board of directors in response to Blackstone’s proposed $8 billion takeover bid.

Packer’s position on the bid was revealed to Chanticleer in an email asking whether he was a seller of his 37 per cent stake at $11.85 a share. He said: “I am following the Crown board re my position.”
