There’s been a little spring in the step of investment bankers in recent weeks, as a string of results from the big American investment banks point to signs that capital markets activity is bouncing back.

But Macquarie chief executive Shemara Wikramanayake was quick to pour cold water on that theory – particularly when it comes to Australia.
