Gold M&A madness is one for the crystal ball readers
The latest big gold tie-up is fascinating for each company’s respective shareholders, but the message for the rest of us is that the deal train is only getting faster.
It’s the crystal ball time of year, when investment banks and law firms make M&A predictions about 2026 to try to plant a bit of deal fever in corporate Australia.
The No.1 place to start for predictions is to look at what worked in 2025 and roll it forward with a bit of mayo. If private equity got one big initial public offering away this year, for example, there will be three or five next year.
