Finally, there’s a bit of housing crisis hope

Interest rate cuts are stirring housing demand before they even arrive. But suddenly, there’s some good news on the supply front too.  

Australian house prices may be heading for a lost year. And that’s exactly what we need.

Analysis by ANZ economists Madeline Dunk and Adelaide Timbrell suggests that even with interest rate cuts starting as soon as this week, capital city house prices are set to rise just 0.9 per cent this year, with prices in Sydney and Melbourne to edge lower through the year.
