Demise of Orica chief Ian Smith a lesson for boards

The alpha male chief executive embraced by boards of directors because of his aggressive and confrontational management style, is on his last legs, judging from the dumping of Orica CEO Ian Smith.

Smith was known for his aggressive manner well before he was hired by Orica in February 2012, but the board of the global explosives company was actually seeking "a change agent".
