Classic PE pitch could end Brambles’ lost decade
Brambles has disappointed investors for a decade and many shareholders will see a potential takeover bid from CVC as a chance to finally extract some value from the stock.
Brambles’ confirmation it’s in talks with private equity giant CVC about a bid for the $17 billion pallet giant included many of the lines in the well-worn takeover defence playbook.
The company has a strong strategic plan that will “transform the business and unlock value for customers and shareholders”. Recent performance is improving. And, lo and behold, the board has also suddenly revealed that it is “considering other strategic options for the company that maximise shareholder value”.
