Key Points

The big result | JB Hi-Fi got reporting season off to a cracking start, outperforming low expectations and further bolstering claims it is more consumer staple in nature and less discretionary.

While there’s plenty of attention on interest rates and the pressure on households, JB Hi-Fi fared better than expected, with sales flat and profit down 16 per cent in FY24 (analysts expected a 20 per cent drop).
