Barrenjoey hits back at ‘boys’ club’ accusations
Barrenjoey Capital’s hiring of 220 people from 50 different institutions has put the spotlight on the persistent gender diversity problem in Australian investment banking.
One of the awful statistics in Australian investment banking is that there are probably fewer than 10 women filling the estimated 100 managing director roles with revenue-earning responsibilities.
These elite positions are the critical client-facing roles that usually carry the added benefit of sharing in the fruits of much bigger bonus pools than those available to people in operational roles.
