Bapcor needs to rev Bain’s bid into an auction

After three profit downgrades, a private equity bid for Bapcor was always coming. But what price will secure the diamond in the rough?

Bapcor chairwoman Margie Haseltine has officially put the “for sale” sign on the battling automotive parts distributor by confirming an approach from private equity firm Bain Capital.

Now, she and Bapcor’s long-standing defence banker Macquarie need to find a competing bid, and rev up an auction that could bring at least a little joy to bedraggled shareholders.
