Australian investors may have made a big mistake

While the ASX has followed Wall Street lower, there are important differences between the two markets that investors have been too ready to overlook.

Everyone likes to be in with the cool crowd, so it’s no surprise that Goldman Sachs analysis found the number of ASX companies discussing artificial intelligence on their earnings calls jumped to a record high of 33 per cent.

But as UBS markets guru Richard Schellbach notes, the actual results of their enthusiastic experimentation remain underwhelming. For the moment, he says, AI seems to be a solution in search of a problem.
