For a self-described "risk averse entrepreneur", Temple & Webster chief executive Mark Coulter has taken some big gambles in his 37 years.
After abandoning a career in law or biochemistry, Coulter spent five years developing digital strategy at Rupert Murdoch's News Ltd before launching Australia's first pure-play online furniture and homewares business with three co-founders and about $500,000 in capital.
