Pressure rising on miners' production costs

Cost pressures are rising in Australia's iron ore and coal sectors, as improved commodity prices, mine restarts, rising oil prices and a stronger than expected currency threaten to inflate unit costs.
Having spent the past three years focusing on and delivering unit cost reductions, many miners are starting to catch up on costly but essential waste-stripping that was delayed while prices were low.
