Citic says intention behind Mineralogy royalty crucial in fight with Clive Palmer

Citic's legal team faced a grilling from Supreme Court judge Justice Kenneth Martin on Thursday as the Chinese conglomerate escalated its attack on Clive Palmer's Mineralogy, which is demanding millions in royalty payments.

Charles Scerri, QC, representing Citic, spent most of his opening submission in the Supreme Court of Western Australia stepping through reams of emails and draft documents the warring parties thrashed out in the lead-up to takeover agreements that delivered Mineralogy subsidiaries Sino Iron and Korean Steel to Citic for $415 million in 2006.
