Federal regulators delay decision over New Hope's Acland coal expansion

Approvals for a coal mine expansion on Queensland's Darling Downs have been deferred by federal regulators for the sixth time in 20 months, in a blow for mine proponent New Hope Corporation.
The federal environment department was scheduled to rule on New Hope's application to expand its New Acland mine to a third stage by October 14, but on Monday delayed that decision until January 20, 2017 at the earliest.
