Anglo American restructure to reshape global coal industry
One of the world's biggest coal mining groups will cut or shift about 85,000 employees and sell or shut mines around the world, including at least four in Australia, a decision that will reshape the global coal industry.
Under a desperate rescue plan, Anglo American's Australian-born chief executive, Mark Cutifani, will put 60 per cent of the company's assets on the block and abandon a policy that ensures dividend payouts do not go backwards.
