The ABC has been forced to issue a correction for a news story and remove a corresponding analysis by its new chief economics correspondent which attempted to demolish the case for corporate tax cuts because it did not meet the public broadcaster's editorial standards.

The analysis piece by the ABC's new chief economics correspondent claimed one in five of Australia's top companies has paid zero tax for the past three years.
