APA Group valuation queried as new gas rules take effect

New rules that come into play this year when gas transportation contracts are renegotiated have raised questions over the valuation of the sector's biggest player, APA Group, which could face a reduction in future cash flows, depending on how they are applied.

Analysts are divided on the potential impact of the new rules, which were put in place last August and are intended to reduce the market power of owners of gas pipelines that are not covered by independent economic regulation.
