South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill has joined with Elon Musk's Tesla in a plan to build the world's largest virtual power plant in suburban Adelaide.
The deal means 50,000 households will be given free solar panels and Tesla storage batteries, and was announced the same day that Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull warned against more energy "experiments".
