Policy vacuum putting energy security at risk: S&P
The vacuum in Australia's energy policy is putting reliable energy supply at risk by delaying investments needed in on-demand generation, while the government's proposed interventionist measures to reduce retail prices could erode competition and deter investment, Standard & Poor's has warned.
The shaky political landscape is only undermining investor confidence to plan new generation projects, said credit analyst Parvathy Iyer, advising that with state and federal elections looming over the next 6-9 months, any clarity is unlikely to come soon.
