The cyclical tides of working for the Global Australian in Queensland have turned yet again with news that the world's biggest metallurgical coal producer, BHP Mitsubishi Alliance, is to bring 350 jobs back in-house at the two mines most recently added to its Bowen Basin estate.

The recovery of the direct employment model, which announces that an era of cost out at BMA is over and that the push for material productivity gains is gathering momentum, is unlikely to stop at BMA's Daunia and Cavel Ridge mines.
