MasterChef judge George Calombaris firm's $2.6m in underpayments

The fast-growing hospitality and restaurant business run by MasterChef judge George Calombaris has been forced to shell out $2.6 million for underpayments to 162 of its employees after first being alerted to problems by the Fair Work Ombudsman more than 18 months ago.

The hospitality business brought in professional services firm KPMG to conduct a comprehensive analysis after a new chief executive and human resources manager started late last year at the MAdE Establishment operations which run Melbourne restaurants including The Press Club, Gazi and Hellenic Republic.
