Australia and China have a lot to lose from coal ban, warn analysts

Analysts have warned that a prolonged China-wide ban on Australian coal imports could have dire implications for both countries, but believe that scenario is unlikely amid diplomatic efforts to resolve an issue so far thought to affect a limited number of ports.
It is estimated Dalian ports in northern China discharge about 4 per cent of Australia's coal exports and 6.7 per cent of Australia's coal exports to China.
