Roger Corbett's new Woolworths role a worry for Brad Banducci
Joe AstonColumnistIt was one of those press releases that instinctively causes you to look at the calendar to be sure it's not the first day of April: that Woolworths' cocksure new chairman Gordon Cairns has appointed former CEO Roger Corbett as an adviser to the retailer's board. What?!
Corbett is now well into his seventies (still relatively young for a member of the Liberal Party), has retired as chairman of (this newspaper's publisher) Fairfax Media and will next week vacate his seat on the board of the Reserve Bank of Australia. And Woolies is refusing to disclose how long Corbett will stay or how much he is being paid.
