Market hangs on Richard Umbers' Myer numbers
Joe AstonColumnistOne of the most anticipated results of the interim earnings seasons is the one being handed down March 16 by Myer chief executive Richard Umbers.
The company's shares have been pushing ever higher since it upgraded its FY17 guidance at its November 18 annual meeting. Myer paper shot 14.4 per cent that day to $1.19 (smashing its shortsellers, who did and still do account for about 17 per cent of the register), from where it's only kept climbing. On Tuesday, Myer closed at $1.32, its market capitalisation now back to $1.1 billion.
