When fabled American tech analyst Mary Meeker released her annual internet trends report last month she included details of one of the most disruptive business tactics ever seen in the global telecommunications industry.
An Indian conglomerate called Reliance Industries spent $US25 billion rolling out a national 4G network. It then started offering mobile services for free from September last year. The company signed up 100 million new subscribers in the first 170 days.
