There is a danger that the completion of a comprehensive and searching review of Australia's future energy security led by chief scientist Alan Finkel will prompt politicians to declare victory too early.

The report, which was guided by the advice from a panel that included Chloe Munro, Karen Moses, Mary O'Kane and Terry Effeney, includes a blueprint for a new national electricity market that will be more reliable, more cost effective and greener.
