From the Ted Bundy courthouse to Jeffrey Dahmer's favourite bar,  the US is littered with chilling true crime tourism sites.These are some of the dark side-trips you can make during a visit to the States...
The Massachusetts home of 1892 axe-murderer Lizzie Borden is now a bed and breakfast museum. You can do ghost tours and stay in the ‘murder room’ itself.  
Horror houses
Perhaps you’d just like to do a drive-by of one of the most famous 'haunted' houses in the world, the Amityville Horror House in Long Island, New York.
If the graphic Cream City Cannibal: Jeffrey Dahmer Tour in Milwaukee is too much (there's been calls to ban it) , there's always the 'Mansonland' tour in Los Angeles.

Seattle offers numerous true crime tours that lead visitors through serial killer Ted Bundy's old stomping ground.

In Lakeview, Chicago, the L&L Tavern is where Jeffrey Dahmer used to drink by the window and John Wayne Gacy once turned up in a full clown outfit.
You are never very far from creepy territory in the US. 
Serial killer country
If you drive down almost any major interstate, from the I-40 to I-195, you’re likely not far from a known serial’s hunting ground. So that’s food for thought.
