Every club's 2021 breakout star part 2

NRL

Welcome back to part two of this series. Here we explore the second half of teams and their breakout stars. If you missed part one tap here to explore the first list

Will KennedyThe Bathurst product featured in all of the Sharks’ games and finished as the team’s leader in try assists and linebreak assists. He was also second in tacklebusts, linebreaks and average running metres and their equal top tryscorer.

Xavier SavageHe was solid in his first official outing, but the following week Savage really made a mark on the competition. The Cairns product ran amok against the Sharks. So while we’ve only had a small taste of Savage, he is very much in contention to wear the No.1 jersey full time next season.

Talatau Amone & Tyrell SloanThere’s a new generation coming through at the Dragons and leading the way are Amone and Sloan. The duo were a part of the Illawarra Steelers' 2019 premiership-winning SG Ball team. Both 19-year-olds are hungry to prove they can match it with the big guns.

Reece WalshHe debuted in Round 7 at fullback against the Storm on Anzac Day and had a hand in three of the Warriors’ four tries. The 19-year-old was so impressive that he was named to make his Maroons debut, until an injury ruled him out of Origin II.

Daine LaurieHe played 19 games before suffering a season-ending leg injury in Round 20. He finished the year second in linebreaks and tacklebusts for the Tigers. He was also nominated for the Rugby League Players Association Player’s Champion award.

Herbie FarnworthThe 21-year-old picked up Brisbane’s Rookie of the Year award in 2020. Farnworth played 20 games this year and averaged 130 running metres per game. Farnworth was awarded 'Best Back' at the Broncos’ end of season presentation night.

Murray TaulagiThe 22-year-old played 20 games this season — the most he’s played in a year — averaging 109 running metres per game and finishing as the club’s second top tryscorer. He was also named Cowboys’ Players' Player at the end of the season.

Aaron SchouppThere wasn’t much for Doggies fans to smile about this year but one shining light was the emergence of several young guns, particularly hard-running centre Aaron Schoupp. The 20-year-old is a good reminder that not every club’s strongest players in each position are in their top 30
