YouTube personality Harley “Durianrider” Johnstone has been allegedly assaulted outside of the Adelaide Central Market.
His girlfriend, Natasha Miklich, 21, said she witnessed the attack at around 2pm by a man who police say was known to the pair.
Ms Miklich said she and Johnstone were walking towards their bikes outside of the Adelaide Central Market when a man approached Johnstone, 42, from behind, put his arms around him and began punching him before pushing him to the ground.
She said the man yelled at her, saying he would attack her too.
“I was afraid and trying to defend Harley,” she told The Advertiser.
“He tried to grab my ankle and I didn’t want to get hurt.”
Johnstone sustained minor head injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Police said a man was arrested at the scene, and the pair were known to each other. No weapons were used in the assault.
Johnstone’s 220,000-subscriber YouTube channel promotes cycling and veganism.
Miklich is a YouTube personality too, with 70,000 followers on her “Get Fit with Natasha” page promoting fitness and lifestyle.
Johnstone is the former partner of Leanne Ratcliffe, or “Freelee the Banana Girl” who has 785,000 subscribers to her channel focusing on veganism and weight loss. She is famous for eating more than 50 bananas a day.
