An elderly woman has been found dead inside her Elizabeth North home, and her daughter has been detained.
Just before 7pm on Sunday, ambulance crews were called to the home on Whiteparish Rd, where paramedics and police found the body of the woman, 92.
Her daughter, 62, was unconscious inside.
The daughter was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment and detained under the Mental Health Act.
Police are investigating the sudden death and say no one else is being sought over the incident. Detectives are waiting to speak with the daughter.
Neighbours were left reeling on Monday morning after hearing the elderly woman had died on their street.
Whiteparish Rd resident Sue, who did not want to giver her full name, said the area was “full of cop cars” on Sunday evening.
“There would have been at least eight cop cars, detectives, you name it, they were all here.”
Sue said she felt “shock and horror” after finding out the woman died.
“I was absolutely shocked, because you never heard any arguments coming out of there or nothing.”
Another neighbour, Makayla Forbes, saw two ambulances arrive at the house about 6pm on Sunday.
She saw a woman on a gurney being placed into one of the ambulances.
“An hour later I saw crime scene (officers) and cop cars.”
Ms Forbes said the elderly woman normally kept to herself, but was occasionally seen watering her garden and feeding birds outside.
“It’s a big shock. It’s so close, that’s what spins me out.”
Detectives returned to the home about 10.30am on Monday to further examine the scene.
