A woman in her 60s was murdered by a teenager who stabbed her between 30 and 40 times before fleeing the scene while covered in blood, a court has heard.
The teenager, 18, of Kilburn, faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday – which ordered her identity be suppressed while SA Police continue their investigations.
She was arrested late last Friday and accused of murdering a woman, 61, who was found dead in her Goodman Ave home just after 5.10pm.
Counsel for the teenager asked the court to order a home detention bail report but Senior Sergeant Fred Wojtasik, prosecuting, argued the allegations were too serious.
“The accused was seen entering the premises of the deceased at 4.49pm... no other person was seen (there) between 4pm and 5.08pm, when the victim was found,” he said.
“As a result of further inquiries, police attended the accused’s address... she was wearing bloodstained clothing similar to that seen on (the victim’s) CCTV footage.
“She was arrested... police located a shoulder bag that’s alleged to have blood stains on it, and several knives including a large silver knife hidden behind the couch.”
Sen Sgt Wojtasik said that, in an unrelated incident, the teenager’s former boyfriend had accused her of stabbing him, but elected not to pursue the charges.
Magistrate Simon Smart agreed the allegations were too serious to consider home detention bail and remanded the teenager in custody until March.
