A teenager has suffered cuts to his face and hands after he was attacked by a man armed with a multi-tool in a wild brawl filmed by a passer-by in the CBD on Saturday morning.
Police say a “disturbance” broke out between a group of people on King William Street near Rundle Mall just after 2.30am.
Footage recorded by a passer-by appears to show four to six people attacking a male in a blue jacket. He tries desperately to fend off the group before he is pulled to the ground.
The group then retreats before police arrive.
When patrols arrived, they found a 19-year-old male, from Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, with lacerations to his face and finger. He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police used live CCTV to spot the suspect, a 21-year-old man from Brahma Lodge, walking on Pirie Street, where he was arrested. He was in possession of a multi-tool that was allegedly used in the attack.
Officers established a crime scene where the Mall meets King William Street as they gathered evidence throughout the morning.
