A teenage girl who bashed a classmate, leaving the victim with broken teeth and other facial injuries, has been spared further prison time or a conviction for the violent attack.
The now 15-year-old pleaded guilty to bashing a 13-year-old girl at a fast food outlet at the Gilles Plains Shopping Centre on February 4.
She and another girl, aged 16, bashed the young victim, leaving her requiring emergency dental surgery at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
She was at the same school as the two co-accused and had only been in classes for a week when the assault occurred.
The victim called her mother in the aftermath of the attack, screaming for help.
The 15-year-old was initially granted bail after being charged with aggravated assault cause harm, but was rearrested after posting a video on social media making more threats to the victim.
She was returned to custody where she stayed until being bailed in March at the height of COVID-19 delays.
During a closed hearing early this month the teenager was placed on a six month obligation to be under the supervision of Youth Justice.
The sentencing magistrate, whose name has not been released to the media, took into account the time the teenager spent in custody and spared her a conviction.
The other teenager involved in the attack remains before the courts but has pleaded guilty to her role in the assault.
She was arrested in May for allegedly assaulting a taxi driver before stealing his vehicle and driving it from the Northern Suburbs to Berri.
In an earlier incident, which only appeared before the courts this month, the teenager stole her “nanna’s” car before crashing into fence when police started following her.
