Serious crash at Cumberland Park as car crashes into parked car

A 61-year-old woman has died after crashing into a parked car on Wednesday afternoon.

A driver has been killed after crashing into a parked car in Cumberland Park.

The 61-year-old woman from South Plympton hit the other car on Esk St about 4.30pm.

Paramedics attempted to save the victim, the sole occupant, but she died at the scene.

Esk Street remains closed, and motorists should avoid the area, but it is expected to reopen later Wednesday night.

The woman’s death is the 13th road death of 2021, and follows the loss of two teenage boys in separate incidents earlier this week.

There were 12 at the same time last year.
