FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5
MAN ARRESTED FOR GROOMING CHILD
A man has been arrested by police for grooming a child on the Yorke Peninsula.
Detectives from the SA Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team and the Australian Federal Police arrested the 33-year-old man on Thursday afternoon.
He was charged with aggravated make child amenable to sexual activity.
The man appeared in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on Friday.
TWO ARRESTED, CAR SPIKED
A 15-year-old driver has been arrested for allegedly crashing a stolen car and driving off at Modbury on Thursday.
A woman went to the Holden Hill Police Station and said she had been involved in a crash with a while Toyota Prado, however the car failed to stop or exchange details with her.
The crash happened at 12.30pm Thursday at the intersection of Smart Road and North East Road at Modbury. The Toyota had been stolen from Andrews Farm earlier that day.
The stolen car was then spotted driving through North Adelaide just before midnight.
Patrols monitored the car and set up road spikes on Anzac Highway, and the car eventually came to a stop. The driver, a 15-year-old Andrews Farm boy and the passenger, a 25-year-old Salisbury North man were arrested. The boy was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, unauthorised person to drive a motor vehicle, failing to stop at the scene of a crash, driving without due care and breaching bail. He will appear in Adelaide Youth Court on Friday.
The 25-year-old was charged with illegal use and was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in May.
STOLEN BOBCAT FOUND
Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing a bobcat at Torrensville.
The suspects were seen loading a bobcat onto a trailer, which was hitched to a Holden utility before driving off at Torrens Street around 11pm Thursday.
Police found the utility a short time later on South Road at Angle Park with two occupants inside.
The bobcat was found at the intersection of North Parade and West Street at Torrensville.
A 59-year-old Campbelltown man was charged with illegal use, driving disqualified, unregistered and uninsured. A 25-year-old Valley View man was charged with illegal use.
Both were bailed to appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court in March.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 4
DRINK DRIVER WHO NEVER HAD A LICENCE
A woman who has never held a licence has been caught driving at nearly five times the legal limit.
The 25-year-old Whyalla Stuart woman was pulled over in her hometown in the early hours of Wednesday morning and breath tested.
She allegedly returned a reading of 0.237.
The woman was reported for drink driving and driving unlicensed.
She was issued an immediate 12-month disqualification and her car was impounded for 28 days.
TRESPASSERS BUSTED BY EAGLE-EYED WITNESS
Two men have been arrested after they were busted trespassing on a car wrecking yard overnight.
The men – a 32-year-old from Elizabeth Vale and a 36-year-old from Burton – were spotted on security cameras entering the Main North Road business at about 3am on Thursday carrying backpacks and gloves.
When police arrived, a man gave a detailed description of the suspects and noted a car and caravan he had seen up the road.
The car was found a short distance away, with men matching the suspects’ descriptions inside.
Police allegedly found tools in the car, including a drill and tin snips.
The men were arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises and going equipped.
They were bailed to face court in March.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3
ATTEMPTED PRISON ESCAPEE CHARGED
A prisoner has been charged after he attempted to escape Adelaide Remand Centre last week.
The 29-year-old Adelaide man was today charged with attempting to escape lawful custody following his effort to escape on Thursday, January 28.
The prisoner’s would-be escape was thwarted and he remained in custody.
The man will face court in April.
MAN STABBED AT MURRAY BRIDGE
A man has been stabbed multiple times in an assault at Murray Bridge on Tuesday night.
The victim presented himself at the Murray Bridge Hospital about 11.30pm.
The 34-year-old local man was transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police are investigating the incident, and believe it was not a random attack.

BUSHFIRE SPARKED ON KI
Fire crews are battling a blaze on Kangaroo Island this morning.
An advice message was issued just after 7pm Tuesday, for the fire near De Mole River, 40 km west of Parndana.
The message is present for people near the Western River.
Residents in the area are advised to remain vigilant, and continue checking and following their bushfire survival plans.
No roads have been closed.
About 30 hectares have been burned so far, and crews worked through the night to extinguish the blaze. Although the fire is not yet contained, firefighters will stay at the incident all day to monitor it.
TWO INJURED IN CRASH AT HOLDEN HILL
Two people are recovering in hospital after a crash at Holden Hill on Tuesday night.
A Nissan sedan smashed into a tree on North East Road about 11.40pm.
The driver, a 21-year-old Paradise man, and his passenger, a 21-year-old Modbury North woman were injured in the crash and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.
Their injuries are not considered life threatening.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2
INDECENT ASSAULT AT WHYALLA
A woman has been indecently assaulted after she was approached by a man in Whyalla Jenkins.
The man approached the woman on Jenkins Avenue at about 9pm on January 27 and offered her money.
When she refused the cash, the man indecently assaulted her and left the area.
The man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 170cm tall, slim and wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
DANGEROUS DRIVERS CAUGHT IN POLICE PURSUITS
A motorcyclist and a driver have been arrested following two separate police helicopter pursuits in Adelaide overnight.
Patrols spotted a motorcycle travelling at 200km/h from their police helicopter about 7.30pm Monday along the North South Motorway at Dry Creek.
CRAIGMORE SHED FIRE
A shed caught alight at Craigmore in the early hours of Tuesday morning in a suspicious blaze.
The Coorara Court shed caught alight at about 2am and was engulfed in flames when police and firefighters arrived at the scene.
Police evacuated neighbours but the fire was quickly contained.
The shed was completely destroyed.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the blaze.
WEAPONS FOUND IN CAR AT PLYMPTON
Two people have been arrested after police uncovered weapons in a traffic stop at Plympton.
Police stopped a car on Anzac Highway about 8.30pm Monday for licence checks.
On searching the vehicle they found a knife in the driver’s door, and a shot gun and ammunition in the back seat of the car.
A 33-year-old Brompton woman and a 35-year-old Para Vista man were charged with numerous offences including possessing an unregistered firearm and carrying an offensive weapon. They were refused bail to appear in court on Tuesday.
HOUSE FIRE AT KANGAROO ISLAND
A house has been destroyed in a blaze at Kangaroo Island overnight.
Fire crews were alerted to the fire about 2.45am Tuesday on the Playford Highway at Menzies.
Despite best efforts from firefighters the home was destroyed.
Initial damages are estimated to cost between $100,000 and $140,000.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1
CANNABIS FOUND AT WHYALLA NORRIE
Police have discovered a cannabis crop in a shed at Whyalla Norrie.
A 49-year-old local man will be summonsed to appear in court after the eight plants were found at about 10am on Monday in a shed on his property.
The crop was found thanks to an anonymous tip.
The man will appear in court at a later date.
SHED FIRE LEADS TO CANNABIS DISCOVERY
A shed fire that caught the attention of fire crews also uncovered a drug crop at Mount Gambier.
The shed went up in flames on Creek Street at about 1pm on Monday, with fire crews rushing to extinguish the blaze.
Once the fire was extinguished, police noticed the shed had been used to grow 12 cannabis plants.
An electrical fault caused by hydroponic equipment may have caused the blaze.
Nobody was home at the time, and police are seeking information.
Those who are aware of illegal cannabis crops or locations of drug manufacturing should call police on 1800 333 000.
DRINK-AND-DRUNK DRIVER BLITZ
Police caught 61 drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol over the weekend.
Operation Stop Drink Drug Drive was a 24-hour blitz that went from 7am on Saturday to 7am Sunday.
In that time, nearly 5,500 drivers were tested across the state, with 34 blowing over the legal limit of alcohol and 27 testing positive to drugs.
The highest alcohol reading was recorded by a 27-year-old Woodville North woman, who blew 0.264 and lost her license for a year.
As a result of the testing, 19 vehicles were impounded and 19 drivers lost their licenses.
ARSON AT WOODVILLE SOUTH
A car that was set alight in Woodville South overnight – which police believe was arson – is under investigation.
The fire was started in a white Holden Barina on Oval Ave about 9.30pm Sunday.
Crews extinguished the blaze.
Police are investigating whether the car was stolen, and the circumstances that led to the blaze.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTED ROBBERIES
A man has been arrested after a number of attempted robberies at West Lakes on Sunday.
The suspect allegedly entered a service station on West Lakes Boulevard about 7pm Sunday and threatened staff with a weapon. No-one was injured and nothing was taken from the store.
A short time later, police were alerted to an incident on nearby Lochside Drive, after a man approached two women and demanded their mobile phones. The women fled and were not physically injured, and their phones were not taken.
The same man allegedly attempted to steal a pushbike from a person in the same street.
Police patrolled the area, and arrested a 21-year-old Taperoo man about 7.30pm.
The man was charged with three counts of attempted aggravated robbery. He was refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 31
DRINK DRIVERS BUSTED AT CEDUNA
Two men have been busted driving well over the legal alcohol limit at Ceduna on Saturday night.
A Holden station wagon was stopped on Trading Stock Route about 9.40pm on Saturday and the driver allegedly blew 0.214.
The 50-year-old Koonibba man was unlicensed.
He was reported for drink driving and driving unlicensed and issued a 12-month loss of licence.
Hours later, at about 1.20am, another Holden station wagon was pulled over on the Eyre Highway for a random breath test.
The 39-year-old Ceduna man allegedly blew 0.163.
He was reported for drink driving, lost his licence for 12 months and has his car impounded.
Both men will appear in court at a later date.
CAR TORCHED AT FINDON
A stolen car was found torched in Findon in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police and firefighters attempted to stop the blaze just after midnight but the Holden Commodore was destroyed.
The car had been stolen on Saturday from Kidman Park.
Police are still investigating the theft and fire.
PARAFIELD GARDENS FIRE UNCOVERS GROW HOUSE
A Parafield Gardens house fire is being investigated after police found more than 80 cannabis plants in the house.
The fire started about 3pm on Saturday and police and firefighters visited the Moss Street property after reports of smoke coming from the roof.
The fire was quickly controlled but it caused extensive damage to the home.
No one was in the property at the time of the fire.
Firefighters found cannabis plants being grown hydroponically in the house.
Fire cause investigators believe the fire was sparked by diverted electricity.
Police seized more than 80 cannabis plants and a large amount of dried marijuana.
