SATURDAY, JANUARY 30
HONDA HITS A BRICK WALL
An 18-year-old man is in strife after crashing his Honda into a brick fence and a street sign.
The young man hit the wall just after 3.30pm on Saturday at Yacca Road, Seacliff, when police were called.
They found the car had mounted the kerb before coming to a stop further up the road.
The fence was damaged and the car was a write-off.
The Seacliff man was taken to hospital for treatment of a minor head injury.
He returned a positive roadside breath test and will be tested further for alcohol and drugs.
The P-plater is expected to be reported for driving without due care, driving without P plates, breaching his probationary licence conditions and property damage.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 29
I NTERSTATE ARRIVAL FAILS TO QUARANTINE
A woman has been arrested for breaching four COVID-19 directions after arriving in South Australia from Brisbane this month, and the two police officers who arrested her have been quarantined.
The Queensland woman arrived at Adelaide Airport on January 8 and nominated a Norwood address to self-isolate at.
She made contact with a prisoner at the Adelaide Remand Centre while she was meant to be in quarantine, and gave a false name to authorities.
She was later found breaching her direction to self-quarantine again, while on her way to the local shops.
Police liaised with SA Health and discovered she had not completed COVID-19 tests on days one and five.
She was arrested and taken to the City Watch house on January 21 and refused bail. Police officers who arrested her were directed into preventive self-quarantine.
She will appear in court at a later date.
DRIVERS CAUGHT BEHAVING BADLY NEAR SCHOOLS
Nearly 100 fines were issued to drivers near schools in a statewide back to school police operation. Police were stationed near 364 drop-off and pick up zones of schools during peak periods from Wednesday to Thursday.
Police handed out 36 speeding fines, two fines for mobile phone use, three drivers with drugs in their system, and 42 other expiations for various breaches.
Inspector Joanne Howard, acting officer in charge of the Traffic Services Branch said: “It is of concern to police that some drivers choose to ignore the road rules by speeding, using a mobile phone or driving with drugs in their system, particularly near a school.”
“Children are among our most vulnerable road users, and it is the responsibility of every driver to ensure children can get to school safely, whether by car, as a pedestrian or riding a bicycle.”
BOY HIT BY CAR AT COLONEL LIGHT GARDENS
A boy has been taken to hospital after he was knocked off his bike by a car on Friday morning.
The collision happened at the intersection of Grange Road and Salisbury Crescent at about 8.50am.

SERIOUS CRASHES AT MIDDLETON AND WATERLOO CORNER
Five people have been injured in a head-on crash at the seaside town of Middleton this morning.
The two-car crash happened about 7.30am and has caused traffic to be diverted around the intersection of Airport Road and Flagstaff Hill Road.
It followed a motorbike crash overnight that left the rider in a serious condition at Waterloo Corner.

WOULD-BE ROBBER OUTSMARTED BY HOTEL STAFF
A machete-wielding would-be hotel robber has been thwarted after staff locked the door on him.
The man, wearing a black hoodie, a black skeleton mask, blue gloves and carrying a machete tried to enter the Brahma Lodge Hotel just before 2am on Friday.
But security staff locked the glass doors before he could get in.
Police said the man waved his machete around in an “angry gesture” but the doors were not unlocked and he left empty-handed.
A search of the area, aided by a police dog, was unable to find the suspect.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 28
POLICE INVESTIGATE COPPER THEFTS FROM HILLS BUSINESS
Police have released CCTV images of suspects believed to be involved in three separate copper thefts in the Adelaide Hills in recent months.
The first happened about 2am Tuesday, December 15 in a Kanmantoo business. Two men and two women entered a compound of the Eclair Mine Road business, by cutting a perimeter fence, stealing an amount of copper.
The suspects were travelling in what is believed to be a black Nissan Navara utility.
Two further incidents at the same business happened on Wednesday January 13, and Monday January 18 where people have entered the compound and stolen copper.
CCTV images have been released of the suspects and their vehicle, with an appeal to the public to contact police with information on the incident and suspects.

SPEEDING DRIVER CLOCKED NEAR WOOMERA
A speeding driver who was caught at 53km/h over the speed limit on the Olympic Highway had three unrestrained toddlers in the back seat.
A 23-year-old woman was caught by a police radar travelling at 163km/h in a 110km/h zone between Roxby Downs and Woomera at about 7pm on Wednesday.
Three children – twins aged two and a three-year-old – were not in child seats or restrained by seat belts in the back of the Toyota Camry.
The woman from Enfield was reported for exceeding the speed limit, driving at a speed dangerous to the public and others, and three counts of having unrestrained children in the vehicle.
She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
STOLEN CAR TORCHED AT EDWARDSTOWN
A stolen car has been set alight at Edwardstown in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The burning car caught the attention of MFS crews at De Laine avenue shortly after 3am.
The fire, which has been deemed as deliberate, was extinguished quickly.
Police checks revealed the Ford sedan had been stolen from nearby Ascot Park several hours earlier.

CAR HITS TREE AT NORTH ADELAIDE
A man suffered serious injuries after his car hit a tree at North Adelaide overnight.
The 36-year-old North Adelaide man was driving his Subaru wagon east on Archer Street and failed to stop at the junction on LeFevre Terrace.
He mounted the kerb and hit a large tree in the parklands.
The man was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening but serious injuries.
Police will be analysing blood from the crash to find out whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 27
WEAPON AND DRUG RAID AT PORT BROUGHTON
Drugs, and weapons disguised as torches, have been seized in a drug raid at a Port Broughton property last week.
Police and Police Dog Taco searched a house and located nine cannabis plants, a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine, a trafficable amount of liquid fantasy, 500 grams of dried cannabis, four tasers disguised as torches, three taser cartridges, four gel blasters, and drug paraphernalia.
A 66-year-old man from Port Broughton was arrested, and charged with cultivating more than the prescribed number of cannabis plants, trafficking a controlled substance, unlawful possession, and possession of dangerous articles. He was bailed to appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court in March.
SMOKE WARNING ISSUED IN ADELAIDE’S NORTH
Residents and motorists in Adelaide’s north have been warned of smoke drifting in the area following a fire in a recycling factory at Wingfield.
Metropolitan Fire Service crews received Triple-0 calls alerting them to the fire on Cormack Road and Johansson Road about 6.20pm Wednesday.
When crews arrived at the recycling yard, they found a large pit of plastics well involved in fire. A smoke advice message was issued around 6.30pm.
“Motorists and residents should remain indoors and close all doors and windows until smoke has passed,” the message said.
Firefighters were expected to remain on scene for most of the night to monitor flare ups.
LUXURY CARS SET ALIGHT
A number of luxury cars were torched at a Brighton Road dealership on Wednesday morning.
The cars, which include Mercedes Benz and BMWs, were set alight before 5.45am at Motor Hut Prestige in Somerton Park.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 26
STABBING AT CHRISTIES BEACH
A man has suffered minor injuries after he was allegedly stabbed by a man known to him at Christies Beach on Tuesday afternoon.
The man in his 20s was stabbed in the stomach about 4.30pm on Nicole Street.
The suspect is known to the victim, and police are investigating whether drugs and alcohol were involved in the incident.
No arrests have been made and the victim sustained minor injuries.
SERIOUS CRASH AT PALLAMANA
A man is in a serious condition after crashing his motorbike at Pallamana on Tuesday morning.
Police say the man, 25, went over the handle bars of the bike about 11am, on public land off Hillview Road.
State Emergency Services and police were called to help rescue the man, who had injuries to his chest and ribs. MedStar were called, and the man was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
CAR INTO HOUSE AT FULHAM
A car has crashed into a house at Fulham on Tuesday afternoon.
The crash occurred just after 12.30pm on Tapleys Hill Road.
The silver ute drove through a side fence and into the front entry of the Tapleys Hill Road home just after 12.30pm on.
Emergency services were called but there are were reported injuries.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 24
ASSAULT AT GLENELG
A man and a woman have been arrested and charged over a violent fight at a Glenelg pool hall that left another man unconscious.
Police and paramedics were called to the Jetty Rd pool hall about 2am on Sunday, after a man was knocked unconscious.
He was taken to the RAH with head and facial injuries. A female staff member was also struck in the face by a glass bottle thrown across the hall, causing minor injuries.
Later on Sunday morning detectives went to a Hove address and arrested a Hove woman, 20, and a Moana man, 19.
They were both charged with aggravated assault causing harm, while the woman was also charged with assault.
They will be bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.

PETROL STATION ROBBERY
A knife was used in an armed holdup of a petrol station at Mt Gambier on Saturday night.
Police were called to the Commercial Street East property about 9.30pm after reports a man armed with a knife had threatened a female employee before stealing cash.
The employee was not physically injured, police said.
The suspect is described as being of caucasian appearance, aged in his late 20s to mid-30s, with blue eyes.
He was wearing a grey hooded jumper, black tracksuit pants with two stripes on each side and black Nike shoes.
He also concealed part of his face with a bandana.
SUSPICIOUS FIRE IN PINE BREAK ON LIMESTONE COAST
Police are investigating a suspicious fire in a cleared pine break at Pleasant Park last week.
Just before 9pm on Friday, emergency services were called to a report of a fire off Paltridge Road in a cleared area of a pine plantation.
Heavy machinery including a skidder and a plough were destroyed by the fire, which was quickly contained by CFS crew before spreading.
A late-model dark-coloured Ford Ranger was seen by witnesses travelling through the area just prior to the fire.
Police are asking the occupants of this vehicle to please come forward because their information may be able to help.
