A Mount Gambier man has lost his driver’s licence after allegedly being caught almost seven times over the legal alcohol limit.

Police allege they received reports of a blue Ford sedan driving erratically between Port MacDonnell and Mount Gambier about 4.40pm on Thursday.

The vehicle had also been involved in several minor collisions with other cars and fixed objects in the area.

Police found the car on Shepherdson Rd, Mount Gambier, and the male driver allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.349.

The 59-year-old local was reported for exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol, aggravated driving without due care, leaving the scene of a collision and other traffic offences.

He lost his licence for 12 months and his car was impounded for 28 days.

The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
