Police have dismantled an illicit drug lab hidden in an inner-suburbs home.
Just after 5.30pm on Saturday, police searched a house in Blight St in Brompton where they discovered the lab.
It is unclear which illicit substance the lab was being used to create.
A 39-year-old Brompton man was arrested at the scene and is expected to be charged with manufacturing a controlled drug.
Police remained at the scene overnight and specialist forensic personnel will attend the site this morning to begin dismantling the lab and continuing their investigations.
Anyone with information on clandestine drug labs in the community are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police advise that signs that a drug lab may be operating in your area include:
– Drawn curtains during daylight;
– Persons carrying laboratory glassware into the premises;
– Extensive and excessive security systems;
– Frequent visitors to premises who only stay for short periods of time;
– Chemical smells;
– Chemical/fertiliser/empty pill/capsule containers in rubbish;
– Pool cleaning equipment when there is no swimming pool.
