An 11-year-old boy found pins inserted in multiple strawberries that were purchased from a Stirling supermarket on Thursday.
The sharp objects were located in a punnet of “Berry Indulgence” strawberries from Suncoast Harvest – a strawberry farm based in Bells Creek, Queensland.
Anne Lentakis posted images and videos of the strawberries on Facebook group “Adelaide Hills Alert”.
“Reported to the store and all related items have been removed from shelves,” she wrote.
Ms Lentakis would not reveal the name of the store, because she “did not want to put anyone out of business”.
“(The pins) were found by my 11-year-old son, so this is purely a heads-up,” she wrote.
A police spokeswoman confirmed officers are investigating.
“Investigators are working with the store and the reporting person to establish how the contamination occurred,” she said.
“Police advise the public that it is a serious offence to contaminate food products and to do so can have obvious dangers for others.”
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
