A HILLIER man found with serious head injuries inside his home may have been attacked up to 24 hours before he was discovered.
The 59-year-old man is now fighting for life in the Royal Adelaide Hospital after he was reportedly found with a stab wound at his rented Hillier Rd home, on a poultry farm, just after 12.30pm on Sunday.
Chief Inspector Alby Quinn, officer in charge of the Barossa LSA, said a 24-year-old man at the house called police to the scene.
It is unclear if the 24-year-old man lived at the property or was visiting.
“On their arrival, (police) found a 24-year-old male who called police and a 59-year-old gentleman who had serious head injuries,” he said.

Chief Inspector Alby Quinn could not confirm the relationship between the victim and the 24-year-old but said the younger man was assisting police with their inquiries.
He said while the investigation was in its infancy police believed the victim may have sustained his injuries several hours before the incident was reported.
“At this stage, we are asking anyone that may know the occupant from this address (66 Hillier Rd) or have any information on what they may have seen overnight to contact Crime Stoppers,” he said.
Hillier Rd resident Martin Banhan was shocked by the incident.
“When these things are on your doorstep, it’s a big shock and of course it makes people (nervous)”, he said.
“Is it random? Is it domestic? Is it an employee-related thing? I don’t know, so until we find out, we’ll be on edge.”
