Man arrested after alleged ‘whopper’ burnout at Hungry Jack’s drive-through, driving off and hiding in bathroom

A man has been arrested after allegedly doing a burnout at a Hungry Jack’s, driving off and trying to hide in a bathroom.

A hoon driver who performed a burnout in a southern suburbs Hungry Jack’s drive-through has been arrested.

The 36-year-old Aberfoyle Park man first caught the attention of police about 6.45pm on Tuesday, after he was spotted doing burnouts at the Aberfoyle Park Hungry Jack’s drive-through.

Police tracked the black Nissan SUV to Manning Road in Aberfoyle Park at 7.30pm, stopping it on nearby Happy Valley Drive.

The Nissan refused to completely stop, doing a U-turn and evading police.

Police caught up with the Nissan on Delta Crescent and saw the driver running into a house.

The man tried to hide in the bathroom, but was found by police and was arrested.

He refused to submit a breath test, and was charged with a raft of offences including misuse of a motor vehicle, failing to obey a direction to stop, hindering police and refusing a breath test.

He was also charged with contravening against an alcohol interlocking system in his car, as his licence was subject to mandatory alcohol breathalyser conditions.

The man was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon.

The Nissan was also impounded for 28 days.
